BEAUTY MORE THAN SKIN DEEP
 

 

GoFundraise's Event Creator Vision platform has form and new function – including a simple drop-and-drag editor and the entire platform being mobile responsive. Review by Liz Henderson, Editor Fundraising and Philanthropy Magazine

 

Building on the power of Event Creator Plus, GoFundraise has now brought out its successor, Event Creator Vision. It was already a one-stop-shop for charities to run events and campaigns, from involving participants through to registration, ticketing, capturing supporter information, and reporting. So what is new?

 

The most obvious transformation is the warm yet polished look (reflecting GoFundraise’s recent brand revamp) of the landing pages and microsites that charities can create, and push onto social media, using the platform. “The challenge traditionally is you get a very template-looking site if you want to create it yourself and it’s not as functional,” says GoFundraise co-founder and chief executive officer Stuart Finlayson. “We’ve made it beautiful and powerful.”

 

As for the back-end, technical upgrades “have added simplicity and useability at the forefront of our design,” he says. The events wizard now lets users select from pre-populated templates for different event and campaign types such as ‘sporting and endurance’ or ‘challenge’.

 

Also “the editor has been completely rebuilt to be drag-and-drop,” says Finlayson. “The objective was to make it so easy your grandmother could use it.” Clicking on simple widgets quickly customises elements like headings and copy, while inserting your charity logo automatically changes the palette to brand colours. Those same improvements are carried over into real-time reports on results that translate them into attractive and meaningful graphics for sharing with key staff such as the CEO.

 

Another essential upgrade is that the entire platform is mobile-responsive and the fundraising pages can accept donations from mobile devices. “That,” says Finlayson, “takes it to the next level.”

 

An exciting step up for Sir David Martin Foundation

 

One of a tiny team of five, Sir David Martin Foundation’s events and corporate partnerships manager Catherine Patmore has a busy schedule that includes running the organisation’s signature event, Abseil for Youth.

 

While it raised $376,000 using Event Creator last year, she says: “You had to copy and paste, and adjust images and text to the right size yourself; there has been a lot of  back and forth, to preview then see your changes, then go back and make further edits.” Now, “it’s 100 times easier,” she notes. “It will now be a lot quicker to make updates to pages through the click and drag elements and with pre-designed page templates – anybody in the team will be able to do it.”
